The Greetery’s New La Dolce Vita Collection – Introduction Day 1

by Dawn

Hello, friends! We’ve got a FUN collection of new products launching at The Greetery this week and you’d better hold on to your hats because this is a good one! Some of these items are timeless classics, some are totally on trend and many are gonna work with lots of the other goodies in your existing collections! I feel like I have only barely scratched the surface with all that I’d like to make with these new goodies, so I’m sure there will be lots more to come but for now, let me show you what I made!

First up, let’s talk sardines!! LOL! Have I ever eaten a sardine? I don’t think so. At least, not intentionally. Hahaha! Am I opposed to eating sardines? I don’t think so. Do I have a burning desire to eat them any time soon? No. I don’t. LOL! However, I’m seeing sardines all over the place these days, on graphic tees, in decor and on notebooks, etc. They’re uber trendy at the moment and I DO love all the fun color combinations and cool graphic designs on all of the sardine packaging and products! Sardines are having a moment and that’s perfectly fine with me! I was happy to create some sardine can cards and honestly, can’t wait to make some more!

For this one, I used some shiny silver card stock for the can and pull tab.

PRO TIP: If your metallic silver card stock has a major mirror finish like mine does, you can use a sand eraser on the silver, to dull the shine so that it looks more believable as a sardine tin! I ended up doing this on both my silver and gold card stocks which you’ll see on the next card, as well.

I used the new Ciao Bella Borders stamps and dies to create the label, along with the new Something Fishy stamps.

If you pull down on the pull tab, you open up the can and inside, you’ll find some fish from the Something Fishy stamp set and dies! I die cut them from colored card stock and then used some oxide inks to add some shading and additional color.

The photo above on the right, shows what the card base looks like on the inside. So the can opens from the top and the card opens from the bottom.

PRO TIP: Fold your card base in half as you normally would, and then run it through the die cutting machine with the Canned die sticking up just slightly beyond the top edge of your card base. This keeps the top of the card from getting cut, which creates a can-shaped card base. Then, just layer all your die cuts on top as usual!

For this Canned card, I filled the can with the new Coastal Cuttings die cuts! Gosh, how pretty is that big flower cluster?!!

PRO TIP: In any project where you’re using a large cluster of flowers, if the flowers aren’t fitting your space just right on your card, don’t forget that you can cut that cluster apart as needed. In this case, I cut off the little pink flowers you see right in the middle and tucked them in where they worked better for my design.

You can see above, where I used the eraser on the shiny gold card stock to dull it down some. It just makes it look a bit more realistic as a sardine tin.

I added some ink blending as well as some colored pencil shading to the flowers for some added dimension.

One more for today…..this one features the new Citrus Fields dies and embossing folder, along with the Ciao Bella Borders. This is another set that I kinda want to make like 20 more cards with!! It’s so pretty and so fun!

PRO TIP: This is a set that makes it really easy to have fun with ink blending on and for even more dimension, bust out your colored pencils and simply follow the debossed lines on the die cuts. You can see where I did that on the flowers, and then I added some colored pencil dots to the dimpling on the lemons.

Reply
Bonnie B Dongon July 9, 2026 - 12:14 AM

I love seeing the pairing of yellow lemon with a teal. I would have expected a more “primary colors” combination, but the teal feels welcome because of the leaves. I also loved seeing the more limited colors of the sardine card. By sticking with two main color families, you placed greater emphasis on the sentiment than on the sardines 🙂 Thanks for the color inspiration!

Reply
Kathy Mc July 9, 2026 - 12:41 AM
