The Greetery: Novelties & Nativities

by Dawn

Hello, friends! And welcome back for week 3 of new goodies releasing from The Greetery!

Here’s the list of what I’ll be showing you today, in case you want to take a peek!

Capsule Nativity Scene Die
Laid Back Holiday Stamp Set
Laid Back Holiday Die
Market Tote Die
Market Tote Mini Die

First up is a card using new beautiful new Capsule Nativity Scene Die. I used it along with the Capsule Basics Die and topped it with the Capsule Filigree Borders Die.

PRO TIP: Glitter card stock behind the Capsule Nativity Scene Die cut is SO PRETTY and then accenting the whole scene with it again on the Capsule Filigree Borders Die is just so lovely!

PRO TIP: You could recreate this same card with shades of greens or shades of blues, instead of pinks and reds!

On the background layer, I used the Capsule Quilt Shop Embossing Folder and then rubbed on a little soft pink ink, to accent the embossing.

Lastly, for the sentiment, I used the new Laid Back Holiday Stamp Set and Laid Back Holiday Die to create the Merry Christmas.

Ack! How fun is this?!! I used the new Market Tote Die to cut out the two panels that make up this little tote, and then I stamped them with the Quilt Block Builder Stamp Set that was released a couple weeks ago! GOSH, I want to make these with like a zillion different quilty patterns and color combinations!!

For size reference, I tucked a little clear bag with two decent sized homemade cookies (freshly milled wheat brown butter chocolate chip and freshly milled wheat peanut butter — so good!!)! This is the larger of the two new Market Tote dies.

PRO TIP: Don’t forget to embellish the handle of your Market Tote! The fun part is, you can literally add any little tags or embellishments that you want. Die cuts work great, or you can use actual little bits of floral picks, too.

To embellish the bag, I pulled out the Bigger Holiday Botanicals: Holly 2 Die for the sparkly holly. Don’t forget to add some glitter! It just makes them that much more fun and festive!

PRO TIP: For adding glitter, here’s what I do and I’m telling you, it’s easy peasy and looks so cute and kinda vintage-y! I have some glue with a fine tip applicator (it’s linked below in my supply list) and I just quickly follow the scored vein lines on the leaves. It doesn’t need to be perfect – in fact, it looks better and more vintage if it’s not!! So just trace the lines quickly with the glue and then sprinkle on some glitter, tap off the excess and you’re done. On the berries, you may just want it as an accent. If it’s a darker glitter, you can add a little curve of glitter along the bottom of each berry as a sort of shadow, or if it’s a light color, add a little curve of glitter along the top of each berry as a highlight! Don’t be intimidated by glitter or freaked out about it being “messy”! This is glitter’s big moment out of the whole year, to really do its job and SHINE!! Haha! Glitter = festive! 🙂

I also punched a little hole in one of the rectangles embossed with the Shortbread Shapes: Rectangle Quilt Blocks Embossing Folder and tied it on the handle for another little tag layer. Layered tags are just more fun!

Lastly, I used the Little Linked Labels Stamp Set, Little Linked Labels Embossing Folder and the Little Linked Labels Die to create the cute little tag.

I am loving the nativity set. My father used to put a similar set on our front picture window. He made a stencil and then applied BonAmi. This set reminds me so much of his talent! Unfortunately my talent is with cutting dies!
