The Greetery: Noel Needleworks

by Dawn

Hello, friends!  I’m so happy to be here sharing some crafty goodness with you today! The Greetery is doing their holiday release a bit differently this year, and the fun part about it is that we’ll be sharing new products and projects made with them WEEKLY for a bit!

Let’s dive right in to the projects because this first one is FUN! There’s a whole new collection of products coming called Capsule Quilt Shop and if you’ve been here for awhile, then you may have heard me tell you before, that one of these days, I AM going to learn how to quilt! Like, for real quilt! Haha!

But for now, I’m excited to do a little paper quilting and I had so much fun with this card, doing just that! To go along with all the quilty goodness from the Capsule Quilt Shop collection, is also the new Shortbread Shapes Rectangle Quilt Blocks Embossing Folder. I used it on several different colors of card stock, and then cut the “quilted” rectangles apart, mixed up the colors and adhered them to my white card base, on a diagonal!

PRO TIP: Mix the colors up however you’d like. Just be sure when you’re cutting your rectangles, to keep the borders around the embossed detail on each rectangle, about the same. Similarly, when adhering them to the card base, keep the border of white between each rectangle about the same all over the card.

For the sentiment, I stamped the “Joy to the world” from the new Capsule Quilt Shop Elements stamp set.

PRO TIP: Stamp the sentiment along the straight edge of a strip of card stock. Then, adhere the strip to the card front with foam adhesive, following the same diagonal lines on your card and THEN, trim the sides of the strip, following the side edges of the card front! Makes it easier to get all your lines nice and straight that way!

For an added bit of sparkle, I highly recommend a thin strip of glitter card stock to help accent the sentiment and draw the eye right to it!

Next up, here’s a happy quilty card for an Autumn birthday! I used the new Capsule Quilt Shop Embossing Folder and the Capsule Quilt Shop Stencil.

First, I used the Capsule Quilt Shop Stencil to add all the colored sections to a panel of white card stock and then I embossed it with the Capsule Quilt Shop Embossing Folder. Lastly, I used the Capsule Quilt Shop Elements stamp set and the Capsule Quilt Shop Die to add the sentiment in the center.

The card has so much quilty texture in real life!

All right, friends, that’s all I’ve got for today, but we’ll do this again next week! Can’t wait!

I love your unique use of the quilt blocks! And the way we can integrate other Shortbread Shapes from our collection. Also, your brown and blue card feels like a great Thanksgiving card with a different sentiment!

I actually went to a quilt class years ago and was making a lap quilt but ….it never was finished because it was ruined when I packed it away for a bit. Never tried again. Paper quilting is much easier and I love your cards

Lovely cards Dawn! I have tried to learn to quilt, the stitches were difficult & didn’t want to look uniform. Don’t know how my Grandma was so good at it. Oh well, I love paper quilting!!!
